Going to Yogyakarta!

We highly advise you to take the flight directly to Yogyakarta International Airport as the nearest airport to the venue. Regardless, if you happen to arrive in Jakarta and would like to go to Yogyakarta, there are several transportation modes you could take.

Inter-city Train

From Jakarta, you could take Inter-city Train to Yogyakarta. Take the train from Gambir Station or Pasar Senen Station and choose Yogyakarta Tugu Station or Lempuyangan Station. Trains from Gambir Station are the executive class with higher price (starting from IDR 400.000 to IDR 1.000.000) but with shorter duration while trains from Pasar Senen are the economic class (starting from IDR 74.000 to IDR 400.000). You could go to the Gambir and Pasar Senen station using airport bus (Damri), airport taxi, or using airport train and transfer to Jakarta commuter line. To book and reserve the ticket please use this link. Do not forget to prepare your passport.

Reaching the venue from the airport

Reaching out to the venue in Universitas Gadjah Mada could be done through several convenience ways! If you have landed in Yogyakarta international airport, here are several transport modes you could use.

Airport Train

Airport train is the cheapest and fastest way to use from the airport. In the airport, from the arrival gates, follow the signage to the train airport station. The train will depart once in around 40 minutes. You can check the schedule through this link: https://www.railink.co.id/id/schedule

The train will cost IDR 20.000 or IDR 50.000 for express service. Get the ticket through reservation or you could buy your ticket at train ticket kiosk in the airport station. Please prepare and provide your passport for this.

Airport Taxi

If you prefer to use Taxi from the airport, there are many Taxi operators that would be ready to take you to the venue. We recommend you to take Blue Bird, JAS, Rajawali, Go-jek, or Grab car Taxi for your convenience. Once you leave the arrival gates, you will directly meet Taxi operator counters on the arrival building, first floor.

Always beware of Taxi scam, it will cost around IDR 100.000 for a service using Taxi to Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Airport Bus (Damri)

Airport buses in Yogyakarta International Airport are run by Damri, a state-owned operator. You could catch a bus or a shuttle from Damri to reach the venue. After leaving the arrival gates, walk straight to the Damri buses point. You could buy the ticket from one of the officers in the point. It will cost around IDR 70.000 for a trip using Damri bus.

Yogyakarta International Airport does not open 24 hours. All of transportation services have their terminus time around 9 pm. In a very unfortunate event you could not catch any of these options in time, you could stay overnight in one of the hotels near the airport and continue the journey on the next day. You could spend a night in one of these hotels:

  3. Novotel YIA

Local Transportation

Trans-Jogja

Travel around visit cultural sites around Yogyakarta City using Trans-Jogja. With only IDR 4.000 you could ride the bus all day long. Prepare your e-money card or cash and make the payment at the bus stop or at the bus.

Ride-hailing is very popular in Indonesia. There are two large ride-hailing operators: Go-jek and Grab. Download the apps at Google Play Store or Apple Store and order your ride to cruise around the city.
